A new cycle begins…
The days are gradually getting longer and warmer with the gorgeous Spring sunshine helping to lift our spirits. We are enjoying an abundance of daffodils and tulips, the trees are starting to bud and Easter is almost upon us.
As we embrace the new season we are aware however that for some it can bring with it irritation in the form of hayfever and allergies. As the new plants explode into life and the weather warms it may contribute to allergies, breathing problems and skin complaints. This month we have chosen to focus on skin and respiratory boosting recipes to help support the body during these changes.
For a lovely skin boosting recipes why not try our yummy Golden Fish Nuggets or our Cauliflower and Chickpea Curry?
If your child (or yourself) is suffering from dry and aggravated skin, there are some very natural and effective soothing solutions. One of our favourites is Calendula. Calendula is a herb renowned for its ability to soothe and calm irritated skin as the active compounds tackle inflammation. It is a natural antimicrobial, and the properties in Calendula also help to promote growth of new tissue to aid healing and repair. We like Weleda Calendula Guts and Grazed Skin Salve and recommend keeping it as a staple in your first aid kit.
For eczema, rashes (including nappy rash – from 2 months) and chicken pox, we love Emma Arkell’s Magic Cream and find it absolutely brilliant. Rich in the organic essential oils Wild Lavender and Chamomile, it is an amazing anti-inflammatory and calms and soothes the reddest skin. It is a bit of an investment, but a little goes a long way and once you have tried it you won’t be go back!
Easter
We have, of course, also got some fun Easter recipes to make during the holidays to help keep the kids busy and entertained. All our recipes are free from refined ingredients and other nasties.
