…eating kefir! After doing our amazing course with the wonderful Amber Rose we have now got oodles of this incredible stuff! Its amazingly good for gut health and we are trying hard to put it in as many things without our children knowing! It is rich in nutrients and probiotics – its basically a healthier and more powerful version of yoghurt. At the moment the best way of getting in to our little ones is in smoothies…why not try our berry smoothie and add a bottle of kefir to your weekly shop and plonk a tablespoon in…. Remember a healthy gut really does = a healthier child, as we are finding more and more that so much of our/their health starts from there.
If you missed our recent piece we did for mybaba.com please do check it out here – all about great and health ideas for children’s parties. Obviously parties are a time for fun and treats but we find all the recipes we put together are a hit with both adults and children whatever the occasion.
We found a really interesting article written by the incredibly glamorous Hemsley and Hemsley sisters all about grains. If you get the time do read it as their thoughts and judgements we feel really ring true.
Otherwise we are finishing off our recent work for the wonderful Little London and looking forward to seeing that published soon.
We are also totally inspired (and in love!) with Jamie Oliver and his wonderful Food Revolution. Aiming to get everyone move involved with cooking and raising awareness about healthier eating, cooking together, growing and generally getting your hands dirty – Jamie you rock!
Below you can see we get our little ones involved in cooking as much as possible (not slave labour promise!?).
Here they are experimenting with Spelt Bread. Feeling the different textures, as well learning to measure, read a recipe, stir, scoop, spread – are all really important to a child’s development. Cooking gives them a big sense of achievement and more often than not it makes them much more likely to eat the end product. Obviously bread might be a bit time consuming so why not make our “its a wrap pizzas”. I have done a quick video…eeeekk! Not to sure the camera is my forte?!
Here is proof you can actually get your little ones to make them with you…
Otherwise we are generally always cooking and thinking about hot topics – do get in touch any time if you might like anything mentioned. Have a great weekend. xx
